The idea of training for adults has been germinating as far back as the 18th century, although we had to wait for the July monarchy for it to take shape and form. It was at the beginning of the 19th century that it was decided that everyone must have access to "reading - writing -counting". The 20th century was marked by the growth in specialised training courses, such as accounting, engineering drawing, and more recently new communication technologies. The City of Paris has been organising courses since 1829 and benefits from more than a century of experience.
The Cours Municipaux d’Adultes (municipal adult courses) continues to adapt to the needs of the public. The results achieved to date encourage us to pursue our actions placed at the service of Paris residents:
A number of training courses prepare for general degrees in education: the GCSE (brevet des collèges), French baccalauréat L, ES, S, and even French vocational diplomas; CAP, BEP, vocational baccalauréats, etc…
Other courses provide certification: a proficiency certificate is issued by the CMA upon passing tests.
